What I Need From A Head SENCO

Please, if you wouldn't mind

I’ve decided the confidence I have in a school setting, for at least one of our children, depends largely on the impression I get from the head SENCO. While we’ve been visiting different schools for a while now, in a bid to find the best environment for our son, we’ve come to realise space, layout, subjects, selection process all pretty much play second fiddle to the person heading up the department that takes the experience from standard to tailored.

I won’t go in to too much detail when it comes to the person who works at our son’s current school because that feels a little too close to home but what I can say with certainty is we wouldn’t have had an EHCP without her, the progress made has been astounding and I’ve felt very supported. So, top notch. I very much appreciate her.
